Joe Westerman is an English rugby league footballer who plays as a loose forward or second-row for the Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League and the England Knights and England at the international level.
He was born on 15 November 1989 in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England.
Westerman previously played for the Castleford Tigers, Hull F.C. in two separate spells, the Warrington Wolves in the Super League, and the Toronto Wolfpack in the Betfred Championship.
In 2023, he was involved in a controversy after a video showing him performing an obscene act on someone’s wife went viral.
Westerman was also caught sending text messages to his wife, blaming alcohol for his actions.
Prior to this, in 2016, he was in the news for being a school friend of Liam Watts, who he faced as a rival in the Challenge Cup final.
In June 2021, Castleford Tigers announced that Westerman had signed a two-year deal with the club from the 2022 season.
Joe Westerman new girlfriend
Westerman is currently dating Alison Hopkinson.
This comes months after being dumped by his wife after being caught on camera performing a lewd sex act with a woman in an alleyway behind a Greggs in his hometown.
Hopkinson confirmed the relationship to Daily Mail from her Castleford home.
Westerman posted a picture of the couple on his Instagram six weeks ago, showing them laughing and cuddling close together.
A week later, Westerman posted another picture of himself with his blonde girlfriend at Pontefield races, captioning it with a love heart.
Hopkinson has two young kids of her own and is said to be living apart from her husband, Carl, 35, who is a father of three.
Joe Westerman ex-wife
Westerman was previously in a relationship with Lauren Westerman.
The two got married in 2014 but their marriage ended due to Westerman’s involvement in a viral sex scandal.
According to Metro, Lauren confirmed that she was not the woman in the video and has not spoken to Joe since the incident.
Lauren who is a primary school teacher later claimed in a new interview that the woman her husband cheated on her with had been sacked from her job as an estate agent.
“She’ll never live it down. She’s lost her job and there are memes of her sweeping the internet. Her children are going to see that. I don’t know if our children will ever forgive their dad,” she told The Sun.
Adding;
“There will be no more family dinners, no family days out. It’s all gone. The kids won’t be able to see him play again because of the chants he will now inspire. I just hope in time they can forget it.”
Lauren also talked about forgiving her husband;
“I’ve relived that footage over and over again. It’s something I’ll never be able to get out of my mind no matter how hard I try. There are absolutely no excuses for what he’s done, not just to me but to our children and wider family
“Everything between us was fine, he FaceTimed me at 4 PM on Saturday while he was out and then texted at 2:30 AM to say he couldn’t get in because he didn’t have his house keys.”
She further noted that Westerman came clean about the incident after the explicit video went viral on multiple social media platforms.
“Truth is, he only told me because it was on social media. But I’m glad it was found because the thought of kissing him after that just makes me feel sick,” Westerman said.
In a report on The Sun, Lauren explained that Westerman’s leaked video had inflicted untold harm on her and their children.
