Jill Dando was a British journalist and television presenter who was born on November 9, 1961, in Weston-super-Mare, England.
She began her career in journalism as a trainee reporter for the Weston Mercury newspaper, before moving on to work for BBC Radio Devon and BBC South West.
In 1988, Dando joined the BBC’s flagship news program, BBC Breakfast News, as a presenter.
She quickly became a popular figure on the show, known for her warm and friendly personality, as well as her ability to deliver news stories with clarity and professionalism.
Dando went on to present a number of other popular BBC programs, including the crime documentary series, Crimewatch, and the travel show, Holiday.

She also worked as a newsreader for BBC Radio 4 and presented the BBC’s coverage of major events such as the Eurovision Song Contest and the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Tragically, on April 26, 1999, Dando was shot dead outside her home in Fulham, London.
Her murder shocked the nation and sparked a huge police investigation, which eventually led to the arrest and conviction of a man named Barry George.
However, George’s conviction was later overturned on appeal, and the case remains unsolved to this day.
Dando’s death was a huge loss to the world of journalism and television presenting.
She was widely respected and admired for her talent, professionalism and kindness, and her legacy continues to inspire and influence journalists and broadcasters around the world.
