Maine sheriff’s office responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on 1106 Island Ave. in Long Island at approximately 8:04 pm.
The sheriff’s office found the victim, identified as 24-year-old Alyssa fluet, pinned between two parked Ford Rangers.
Fluet was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Maine State Police said that the accident was caused by a 2004 pickup truck rolling out of a parked position into the path of a parked 1998 Ford Ranger.
Both vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the accident.
State police said that the driver of the pickup truck, a 90-year-old male, was attempting to avoid a collision with the parked Ford Ranger when it rolled over onto the passenger side of the vehicle.
As a result of the rollover, the driver of the Ford Ranger became pinned in the vehicle, resulting in the death of the passenger.
State police said that a preliminary investigation indicates motor vehicle defects contributed to the accident.
